Biodiversity

Here are a couple of shots from my excursions, field trips, and surveys. Enjoy! (by the way, the damselfly above is Platycnemis pennipes, recognizable at its very hairy legs)

Crocothemis erythraea - a beautiful African species that occurs more and more at higher latitudes.

Natrix natrix - relatively common, but still usually shy, as most snakes are. This individual was sufficiently out of reach not to mind receiving some attention.

Anax imperator - female ovipositing.

Hovering in front of her are Erythromma viridulum and Enallagma cyathigerum.

Cerambyx cerdo - the "Heldbock"

Polyommatus icarus - one the most common "Bläulinge" in Berlin-Brandenburg, but always a nice sight.

Orthetrum cancellatum - basking in a forest clearing.

Libellula fulva - mature male. Note the dark wing tips, characteristic of this species.
